    Some good quotes.

However, to a lot of people, he left those days behind when his people took down his photos at Gold’s Beach in Venice. Fuckin politics.

    Its golds gym……not golds beach

  4. If you are looking for a workout to blast up your testosterone level, add mass, and be ripped, try CrossFit. I have done a lot of programs…HIT, high volume, body weight , but CrossFit is the shit! I do it at home or work gym.

  5. Robert H. says:

For the aspiring athlete who wants to grossly overtrain and learn absolutely nothing about growing, follow Arnold. For the guy who wants the real, no bullshit approach to packing on some serious size, follow Mike Mentzer

    • Mentzer’s program will only work if you are on steroids, if that. How many titles did Mentzer win? How many did Arnold win? Frank Zane? Serge? There has to be a volume component and a strength/heavy component.

      • pete smith says:

I have to disagree. I don’t use steroids and have gotten good results using Mentzer’s program. I have also used lots of volume and got diddly-squat, except for fatigue from over training.

      • Robert H. says:

If anything Mentzer’s routines are suitable for the natural athlete more so than anything. Mentzer based his routines around what actually makes a muscle respond and grow, not an obsessive/compulsive mindframe that more meant better. As for bodybuilding titles won, in the end its 90% genetics. Arnold had the genetics, period. Arnold rarely ever talked about nutrition at all, this was a guy who could eat nothing but bran muffins and go into a show and kick some ass. However, Mentzer had Arnold smoked at the 1980 Olympia, politics were the ONLY reason he didn’t get first place that year. I’m not trying to take anything away from Arnold, but I lived by his books and routines like it was the gospel for a number of years, and didn’t get shit compared to what Heavy Duty/high intensity training gave me in just 6 months.

        • Jordan Poling says:

Arnold was pure discipline, I can guarantee you he wasnt eating bran muffins when he was winning all those contests. He was a steak and egg guy for sure, especially around contest time.

  6. Robert H, HD gave you good results in 6 months? What happened after those 6 months? What do you consider “good results”? You end up training once a week a few sets and you get huge? Dont make me laugh!
